What is remedial massage?

Remedial massage is a holistic treatment that involves the use of massage and a wide range of remedial techniques such as cupping, trigger point, myofascial release and mobilization to treat a condition. Types of Massage Treatments

Remedial Massage

Remedial massage is a deep tissue, full body massage which may include trigger point therapy, sports massage, myofascial release, joint mobilisation and stretches.

Sports Massage

Sports massage aims to prepare you for peak performance, drain away fatigue, relieve swelling, reduce muscle tension, increase flexibility and to prevent injuries. Although sports massage was designed for athletes it is useful for anyone with chronic pain, injury or range-of-motion issues.

Myotherapy

Myotherapy is the highest level of remedial massage qualification one can attain. It is used to treat or prevent soft tissue pain and restricted joint movement caused by muscle or myofascial dysfunction. The philosophy of myotherapy is founded on Western medical principles including anatomy, physiology and biomechanics.

Your session will include a clinical assessment and treatment that is targeted to your injury or source of pain. You will also be provided with any specific exercises or stretches which will assist with your treatment.

Shiatsu

Shiatsu is a form of therapeutic bodywork from Japan that aims to improve energy flow in the body. Shiatsu is based on the same principles as acupuncture and applies pressure to certain parts of the body, as well as using kneading, pressing, soothing, tapping, and stretching techniques to achieve results.

Do I get a rebate from my health insurance?

We do offer on the spot rebates through our HICAPS machine, however your rebate will depend on your policy and cover. We suggest that you check with your insurer if you are unsure.

How long are massage appointments?

We offer 30 minute, 45 minute and 60 minute appointments so the length of the massage is up to you! We do recommend a 60 minute appointment for your first visit as this allows the massage therapist time to perform a full assessment and to discuss your treatment goals.

Can I get a massage if I’m pregnant?

We do have massage therapists who are trained in prenatal massage however it is always recommended that you seek the advice of your medical practitioner before booking a massage. When you are booking, please advise reception that you are pregnant and we can ensure that you are booked with the most appropriate massage therapist.

Do I need to have an injury to have a massage?

Definitely not! Regular massage plays an important role in maintaining health, preventing injury and assisting with stress relief.
